What did you learn?
The most adorable little magic schoolgirl you ever seen, right?!
Oh, right. You’re a book, you really can’t see anything. Wait, was that insensitive to books? Sorry, I didn’t mean anything bad that. Jeez, I gotta be careful, some books have strong political ties and could TOTALLY fuck my life over. There’s those J-Star bibles that 1/3 of the worlds populous own could gang up on me!
Ok, enough fooling around.
ON WITH MY SCHOOL LIFE!
There’s a LOT to talk about! I learned the ins and outs of all types of magic; from Mobile to Mind, from Force to Healing, etc. I learned more about how Focus crystals actually work and how Wadalisi can be used as a viable, if not more impressive, substitute. I came to understand that, even though many believe that J-Star malarkey, the magicks we wield today were first given to all mankind by the 7 Human Gods. Seriously wild stuff you probably don’t get because you’re only a book(non-derogatory). I’ll briefly cover the basics here, but just know it gets pretty deep. Here’s what I learned:
FIRST,
SOULS AND MANA
All living beings on this planet are comprised of two essential parts, the Heaven Soul and the Earth Soul. When we are conceived, the sperm and the egg being building both souls together to form us and finish at our birth.
The Earth Soul is our physical form, our body and all that would imply. Our Earth Soul governs what we eat, how we sleep, what we desire to fornicate with.
The Heaven Soul is our non-physical form, our minds. Our Heaven Soul is what makes up our personalities, memories and ideals.
The two souls fuse together and give rise to the harmony that is our very beings. Now that fusion produces Mana. Mana is what all beings use to do anything. It is used when we hunt for food, when we form thoughts, when we pound mad dick behind the mess hall. For Mages and the like, harnessing and wielding our Mana is how we us Magic!
Death is the breaking of the bound between the souls. Upon death, the Heaven Soul dissipates into the air, scattering all around like mana. Meanwhile the Earth Soul becomes motionless and begins to decay, returning to the soil.
SECOND,
THE MAGIC TYPES
Magic tends to be broken into the 3 “Cs;” Control, Create and Carnage. Control spells deal with manipulating or morphing the Heaven Soul. For example, the spell “White Truth” makes it so the target can only answer truthfully. It’s works by briefly touching the body of the target while concentrating control magic. Upon contact, the spell disrupts any synergy between Heaven and Earth Souls for a short time, allowing the user to pull information directly from the Heaven Soul through simple questions.
Next, Create spells help mold and shape objects and Earth Souls. “Light of Yellow” is a spell often used for healing. The magician holds his or her or their hands over the target’s body. The magic then radiates from the hands and takes hold of the Earth soul. Then the user just focuses to mend the Earth soul to its previous undamaged state.
Finally, Carnage spells are those used for destruction or the breaking down of objects. For this one, I’ll use the spell I myself have crafted over my time in GUM, “V Force Cannon”. Gathering mana into my palms, I build up a ball of condensed air into my hands. I then aim my palm at a target and push the ball of force toward them. The pressure releases, causing the invisible pocket of air to shoot forth like a bullet at hundreds of kilometers a second. A pretty quick and hidden way to put a hole in something, I’d say.
THIRD, THE MEANS
To harness and use our Mana, both of our souls have to be aligned. One can not be a magic user of any kind without the harmony of souls. To achieve the unity needed to form spells, one must focus both souls through a conduit of some kind.
Thus, the Focus Crystal. Focus Crystals come in many shapes and sizes but don’t let that fool you, non of that matters. All the Focus Crystal is used for is to help both Souls harmonize in order to draw forth and use Mana. A newbie/layperson trap is to buy the BIGGEST Focus Crystal they can find and try to use it. That’s not to say having a NICE Focus Crystal is a bad thing, having one that can fits one’s style and personality can help increase his or her or their Souls better then just any old rock.
In fact, the use of Focus Crystals is actually optional. They help a lot but plenty of people, even non-mages, can make due without them. Case in point, Adventurers and their Battle Magic. Adventurers are a unique lot that focus on fighting monsters with any manner of weapons and skills, including basic spells. One such spell is the “Hamma” series. All the user does is focus their Mana into their hands, using them as the focal point rather than a crystal. Then, they manipulate their hands into becoming heavier but still wield-able. All that to say the spell makes their fists stronger so they can punch or hit harder. There are multiple levels to it. “Alpha Hamma” is the base line, making the fist(s) two times heavier. “Beta” is the next step up and is four times heavier. “Gamma” is six times, “Delta” is eight times and so on. To boil it down, Adventurers with good Soul Harmony can wield mana just as if not more powerful than Mages without any accessory.
And digging the grave deeper for Focus Crystals, there is a viable and much more potent replacement; Wadalisi’s Oda! During my youth, I found myself without any type of Focus Crystal but was able to use magic all the same. In fact, I was able to pull out and manipulate Mana on a higher level than my peers during my GUM days. That, I discovered, was because of my Oda, my neck fuzz. The fibers in the Oda not only acted as my Souls’ focus point but whatever Mana that wasn’t used for the spell would linger there for a LONG time after. Oda is a Focus Battery, not only to use Mana but store it for later. And after one Oda cut I did, I found out it can still store Mana AFTER being severed from my body. Even a little clump can hold enough power to use some of spells without much effort. If Wadalisis were to produce Oda-based Focus Devices, it would radically increase magic use around the globe. This was the basis for my Finals essay, “Oda and how the Wadalisi will change the Magic World.”
To wrap this part up, there are many ways to wield and use Mana that both Mages and regular folks have access to.
FOURTH, THE BIRTH OF BAHLL
Long, long ago, our planet was divided into many small settlements. The Hamans, Hemans, Himans, Homans, and Humans lived separated and in fear of one another. The reason was because of the ones that ruled over them all, The Old Gods. Humongous beings, said to have stood from anywhere between 50 to 200 meters tall. The wielded magic and forced all mankind under their feet. The Hamans and the Himans kowtowed to their oppressors while the Hemans and Humans fled. the Homans, with their flight, were able to hide away from it all among the floating islands in the clouds. The Old Gods enjoyed their control, feeding off the excess Mana produced by the prayer and fear of mankind. One such God was Bell. A colossal water beast who could create tidal waves with a single step. The seas were hers to command and aquatic Hamans worshiped her. It is said, though, that she was a kindly God, never directly harming mankind as she spent most of her time sleeping. However, that all changed one faithful day.
Ten thousand years ago, in a land far to the East, there was born a poor Human boy. His mother, a simple woman, chose to name him “Ah,” after the first sound in her ancient tongue. His kindly mother passed on not too long after his birth and his father died fleeing the Old Gods. Because of that, Ah grow up wanting and ignorant, competitive and petty, unwanted and alone. In his isolation, he believed himself more free than others and that he was meant for great things. His ignorance would be is folly, as he was caught attempting to rape a woman he fancied in broad daylight. With haste, his village cast him out, leaving him to wonder the world alone. For weeks, Ah walked into the wasteland. Due to his lack of education, he struggled to find places to sleep or food to eat. His hunger grew and grew as his body shriveled away with every step. After some amount of time, Ah found himself at the lip of a river. He was able to drink but his body needed food. There, he saw wiggling out of the water, was a small blue-green worm. Without hesitation, Ah dove for the creature and began eating it raw. But as he was biting into it, he discovered it was far larger than what was visible on the surface. That fact only emboldened Ah to eat more, for the more he ate, the hungrier he became. He ate and ate and ate, the worm never seeming to end nor struggle against him. And as he ate, Ah began to change; his body grew larger, his teeth sharper, his mind crazier.
All the while, Bell didn’t notice herself being eaten. She had come to that river bed decades ago to slumber and was deep asleep. Bell only awoke when Ah had already reached her torso. Too late to fight, Bell was consumed by Ah, the latter of whom had been transformed into a hideous hybrid of the two. Bell was gone. Ah was gone. All that was left was Bahll and Bahll was still hunger.
FIFTH, THE WAR OF THE GODS
Bahll, hungry for more, openly attacked the Old Gods. The Old Gods, shocked at the transformation of their old friend, struggled to fend off the beast. They had known Bell to be strong, but Bahll was far above what Bell was ever capable of. And as Bahll consumed more Old Gods, they found he was becoming stronger still. Some of the Old Gods fleed while others tried to subdue Bahll. Lands split, mountains crumbled, rivers dried up, fire rained, and smoke covered the earth in the melee. When the smoke cleared, all that was to be seen was the God eater consuming the corpses of his adversaries.
With his eyes hollow, Bahll lunged after the fleeing Old Gods. But as he gave chase, he suddenly stopped. Down below him, hundreds of meters, was a single Human. His porcupine hair shimmered crimson like the battle weary skies above, the Human put out his hand toward the gigantic creature. Bahll leaned down to the man, staring him straight in the eyes, drool flooding the land around them. Then, from he man’s hand came a flash of brilliant prismatic light. And before Bahll could react, His eyes turned white and his 500 meter body shattered into billions of tiny fragments. The creature which slew countless Godly beings felled in an instant.
The Old Gods saw this and crept closer. They looked down to find the Red-haired man and their heart beats rang heavy in the air. One God finally broke through the noise and asked “What are you?!” The man turned to face the Gods, eyes full of fire and fury, and declared, “I am Miguel Pi! I am El Rojo Encima Del Negro! And I AM JUST HUMAN!” His roar ripped through the air, wind hushed and the world stilled. The Old Gods, have faced death most foul that day felt something they had not before. Something that drove them to run, drove them to attack, drove them to tears. That something was fear. And now fear had a face but it wasn’t one of theirs. It was Human.
That was when the great war between the Old Gods and Mankind began. Miguel, once a simple farm boy, rose a force of might human warriors from across the world and did battle with their oppressors. Through seeing and feeling Bahll’s rampage, it is believed Miguel discovered who to tap into the powers the Old Gods wielded. He then taught those he was closest to and went out to drive the Old Gods out. After Miguel’s declaration, many of the Old Gods fled the planet, leaping up into the sky and disappearing behind the stars. Some stayed and fought, underestimating the might of Miguel and his forces. Hamans and Himans tried to lend their aid to their old masters but it was of little use. With Magic, Powers of the Gods themselves, Mankind won and freed their homes.
FINALLY, THE SPREADING OF MAGIC
With the defeat of the Old Gods, the hero Miguel along with his comrades went out to bring order to mankind and spread his knowledge of magic. They taught everyone, from the noble to the poor, from smiths to farmers, what they called “The Colours of Gods.” It is said that decades after they educated Mankind on their ways, the hero’s party ascended unto Godhood themselves. Thus is origin of the Seven Human Gods, those that watch over all mankind, not just Humans. And for a time, all was good.
Each of the Human Gods represented some aspect of magic and were worshiped for it. First, there is Miguel, God of All, who use his holy spirit to bring justice to the lands. There is Clarance, God of Creation, who used his holy might to create humongous metal soldiers called the “Holy Iron Colossi” to do battle with the Old Gods. Then there was Manny, God of Healing, who used his holy benevolence to calm and save the innocents caught in the cross fire. There was Zowel, God of Death, who used his holy scythe to split the Souls of the Old Gods apart. And there was Shaiya, Goddess of Monsters, who used her holy suggestion to bring mankind, including the traitorous Hamans and Himans, together both during and after the war. There was also Puño, God of War, who used his holy strength to topple the Old Gods with his fists. Finally, there was Maara, Goddess of Sex, who used her holy body to bring the Old Gods to heel(She’s my FAVORITE!). Everyone of them had a temple dedicated to them and their feats. In the past, people would make pilgrimages to specific Gods’ temples to learn magic or request aid. The Human Gods would then call upon their Heralds, the most powerful of a God’s devotees, to enact their work on the mortal plane.
Overtime, the worship of the Human Gods faded from the minds of the populous. In it’s place came a new religion based loosely on one of Miguel’s Heralds, J-Star. Stories about J-Stars daring do had spread for some time but at some point the fact that he was working in service to Miguel was lost, replaced with the idea that he was the Earth born son of an almighty creator God who’s name is not allowed to be spoken. The Magic world as a whole scoffed at the new religion, knowing the story I just presented. The issue was that the Church of J-Star spread extremely quickly, mostly because of the Imperialist actions of the Golddwenni Empire. So while Mages from the Magical Union still recognize the Seven Human Gods, a large number of countries have long since abandoned teaching about them in favor of historical fiction. So when I’m talking about being accosted by bibles, there’s the reason why.
A bit long winded but there are the main points I learned from my professors in GUM.
Now on to what I learned from everything else there! For the first time, I was among people I UNDERSTOOD and who understood ME. I made some many friends like Reon Guddoi. He was a super loyal and upstanding dude. Never caused trouble but didn’t shy away from adversity. You could say that is typical of Dog Hemen but that would be racist! Then there was the POWER couple of our class, the Human Alecks Nadex and Haman Zellk Pokey. They were WILD. If there was something they wanted to do or a place they wanted to go, there was NO stopping them. There was one time they got so hot for each other, they fucked in the dead center of the classroom auditorium, DURING CLASS. Apparently the sex was so amazing, the professor started jerking it! Great people. The semester with them gone sucked though. Oh, and there was also Carmin Vanderbolt! What a HOTTIE! Gave me all the right lessons on how to properly and profession lick nipples. Too bad her boyfriend wasn’t as respective to her “teachings.” I KNOW he’ll never read this but sucks to suck, loser! Hope your next girlfriend doesn’t have a taste for hot BEE PUSSY!!
This might surprise you, but I was also REALLY close with my professors. Professor Arkham was super intimidating at first but once we got caught in a snow storm and had to trade of magicking up warmth, I found out she’s mega relatable. We’d get lunch together a lot and she helped me craft my personal spells. I still wish SHE was my mom. Oh and I can NEVER forget Professor Zündete. Just so you know, I DIDN’T have trouble passing classes. Cause of all my friends and me being a BADASS, I ended up in the top 1% of my class(Magna Cum Laude AS FUCK). That is all to say I would fuck Prof. Zündete on the reg. I didn’t do it for the grades, just the love of the game. And when I was done with her, I’d fuck her husband. She taught me the best kinda magics; the one’s that keep away those pesky venereal diseases like Herpes and Pregnancy. She is also really in to Maara and has been wanting to find where Maara’s old temple is hidden.
But like I said, I killed it in GUM. I learned a lot and partied JUST as hard! Those 7 years were the BEST part of my life so far! Nothing is going to top them, that’s for sure!
